Trust & privacy

Opening up your family's life is a big ask. We never forget that.

Asking Mom to share her health, asking Dad to connect the bank account he's managed for fifty years — that takes real trust, in you and in us. FamSteady's answer is to watch gently, see as little as possible, and put your parents in charge of every bit of it.

Non-intrusive by design

Watching over, not watching

FamSteady only reads the quiet signals your parents' own devices already collect — and turns them into reassurance. It never brings surveillance into their home.

No cameras

FamSteady never looks into anyone's home. There is no video, and there never will be.

No microphones

Nothing listens. No voice capture, no ambient audio, no "smart speaker" in disguise.

No location tracking

We don't track where your parents go. Their days are their own.

What flows — and what never does

FamSteady sees

  • Daily rhythms their devices already record — steps, sleep, heart rate
  • Read-only transaction summaries, to catch scams early
  • Alerts, when something is genuinely worth a look
  • Who is in the family, by first name and role

FamSteady never touches

  • Bank usernames and passwords — those stay with the bank, via Plaid
  • The ability to move money — impossible by design, not by policy
  • Location, cameras, microphones, or message content
  • Anything visible to an employer paying for the benefit
  • Data sold or shared for advertising — ever

Care shouldn't cost anyone their privacy — least of all the person being cared for.

That's why parents connect their own accounts, see exactly what's shared in their own app, and can disconnect anything with a tap. Every family member sees only what their role allows — and our AI care navigator is given the bare minimum: first names and relationships, never identifying details.

Under the hood

Security, the unglamorous way

No silver bullets — just the disciplined, boring practices that keep family data where it belongs.

Encrypted everywhere

TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest. Financial access tokens get an extra layer of field-level encryption of their own.

Bank access without bank credentials

Connections run through Plaid, the infrastructure behind thousands of banking apps. FamSteady receives read-only data — credentials never touch our servers.

Short-lived sessions

Sign-in tokens expire after one hour, and sensitive endpoints are rate-limited against abuse.

Audited, always

Sensitive operations are audit-logged, so there is a record of every access that matters.

Your data, portable

Export what belongs to you at any time. Health data is retained one year, transactions two — then archived away.

Delete means delete

Leave whenever you like. Accounts close in the app, connections disconnect immediately, and data is removed on a published schedule.
